Used Ford Escape Review

The Ford Escape debuted in 2001 to give car shoppers an SUV option that had some of the light utility of a traditional SUV, without the engineering for off-roading or heavy-duty towing. Now, the Ford Escape is one of the top-selling SUVs in its class, and with good reason.

Drivers in Langhorne, Bensalem, and Philadelphia can learn more about the benefits of buying a used Ford Escape with our car review. Contact us today at Fred Beans Ford of Langhorne with any questions.

2008 & 2009 Model Years

In the Ford Escape's history, the 2008 and 2009 model years were some of the top-ranked vehicles in the compact SUV class.

The 2008 model was available with either front-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive, three different engine variants, and three trim levels, which offered several options for its buyers. It also offered impressive fuel economy with the hybrid model.

The 2009 model year was one of the best, since it experienced a redesign that corresponded to market demands. A new, 140-horsepower V6 made its debut, as well as an improved hybrid model. It also came standard with a 5-speed manual transmission and had a 6-speed automatic transmission as an available option.

2010-2012 Model Years

Staying with the trend, the Ford Escape's 2010-2012 model years still kept all the appeal of the earlier models, but Ford updated it with a longer list of standard features, upgraded engine variants, and improved fuel economy with its gas-powered engine options.

2013 Model Year

The 2013 model year brought another full redesign, which ditched the truck-like build in favor of a more refined, compact SUV, as well as the addition of the MyFord Touch infotainment system.

2013 also brought another upgrade of the engine lineup. Three different variants were available for the 2013 Ford Escape: a 168-horsepower 2.5L 4-cylinder, 178-horsepower 1.6L turbo-four, and a 240-horsepower 2.0L turbo-four, all of which improved its overall power and capability.

2014-2016 Model Years

The 2014-2016 model years brought some additions that pushed the Ford Escape into the field of the highest ranking compact SUVs in the class.

Most of the changes were reflected in its superior performance and handling, but the Escape also added modern safety technology like rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and a rearview camera. New color palettes and an upgraded infotainment system were also added.

2017 Model Year

With few changes to the 2018 model, a used 2017 Ford Escape offers many of the same perks as the newer version. The SYNC® 3 touchscreen infotainment system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, automatic headlights, satellite radio, a power liftgate, remote start, and several advanced safety features are all available in the 2017 model.

Used Ford Escape Review: Conclusion

As you can see, the Ford Escape offers plenty of appeal and value as a used vehicle. And depending on the model year, it can be equipped with many of the same technology and safety features as a brand-new model.
